Gsa Historic Properties In The National Register Of Historic Locations
The National Register of Historic Places is the official listing of our nation’s historic buildings, districts, websites, constructions, and objects worthy of preservation. It was established as part of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and is overseen by the National Park Service. The National Register recognizes greater than ninety,000 properties for their significance in American history, architecture, art, archeology, engineering, and culture. This is meant to be a whole record of properties and districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Galveston County, Texas. There are 10 districts, 69 particular person properties, and four former properties listed on the National Register within the county. Two districts and one individually listed property are National Historic Landmarks.
